I use the muz.li browser extension for design inspiration every time I open a new tab. It is not at all my main news source, but I occasionally read some news stories.
After clicking on a story about Grant Imahara’s passing, I glanced back at the muz.li page, where I was enthusiastically greeted with a social sharing prompt:
Nice! Maybe your friends will also enjoy this?
Ouch.
Now, muz.li is all about design inspiration. It makes sense to adopt an upbeat and passionate tone to share a colour palette or an inspiring portfolio.
But as the extension started displaying news stories as well, the design should have been updated to reflect the fact that these stories might be ambiguous or negative.
